Buying a high-voltage bipolar laboratory power supply unit (LPS) that allows solving problems within the framework of a specific project can be a real challenge for engineers conducting R&D in such areas as photonics, research of elementary particles, synthesis of materials, etc. due to the fact that often the requirements for research equipment are very tight, and the supply on the market is very limited.

The Russian company PARAMERUS LLC offers the L-HVULP series - laboratory high-voltage regulated, precision power supplies with ultra-low output voltage ripple.

The article aims to conduct a brief review and the main characteristics of the devices of this series.

High voltage laboratory power supply is needed in various areas of high-tech science and industry. As a rule, very strict requirements are imposed on such devices in terms of installation accuracy and output voltage change step, ripple level and temporal stability. All these requirements are taken into account when designing the L-HVULP high-voltage bipolar laboratory power supply. The proposed device with regulation from 0 volts and a minimum discredit step of 100mV, output ripple less than 1 mV, the possibility of hot polarity switching is the standard of a high-voltage laboratory DC power supply. shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1. L-HVULP high-voltage laboratory regulated bipolar power supply with ultra-low output voltage ripple

The L-HVULP series high-voltage regulated power supply is powered by 220 volt AC (voltage class 100-120 volts is optionally available), can be placed on a laboratory bench or installed in a server rack, has two high-voltage outputs for easy connection, on the back of the case and on front panel. Optionally available digital interface Ethernet, USB, RS-232, RS-485 and GPIB. All models are equipped with a 2.5m shielded high-voltage cable.

The manual controls are located on the front panel. For precise setting of the output voltage, 3 encoders are provided, which make it possible to set the parameters bit by bit in steps of 100mV, 10V and 100V. The value of the set voltage is displayed on a 5-digit 7-segment indicator 127mm wide and 27mm high. Switching between PANEL-PC control mode by slide switch. When controlled from the panel, the polarity is switched by a toggle switch. When controlled from a PC, all manual controls except the shutdown button are blocked, while the digital interface makes it possible to set and change the rise / fall rate of the output voltage, set the thresholds for the operation of protections for exceeding the DC current and voltage at the output. By default, the output DC overcurrent protection is set to the maximum value, according to the power and voltage of a particular source model, for example, for L-HVLP-UN-RP-3100, this value is 0.005 amperes.

The following models are currently available for order:

Model Output voltage Output power Output voltage ripple
L-HVLP-UN-RP-3100 0 – 3100 V (bipolar) 0 – 15.5 W < 1 mVp-p
L-HVLP-UN-RP-4100 0 – 4100 V (bipolar) 0 – 15.5 W < 1 mVp-p
L-HVLP-UN-RP-6100 0 – 6100 V (bipolar) 0 – 15.5 W < 50 mVp-p
